Christmas Hillside
Oil on canvas
8" x 12"
I painted this little piece from the trunk of my car. The Skagit River was to my back, and I remember counting
eleven eagles soaring above the ridge as I painted. I know, hard to believe. A lovely Christmas gift, indeed.
Two Brush Strokes
Oil on canvas
12" x 16"
This one was painted from the front seat of my car.
It was a cold day.
It's the trees and shrubs that gave the painting its title, having been laid down
in two strokes--one quick sweep across the canvas to the right for the trees, and for the shrubs in the foreground, a
second dancinging-and-skipping stroke to the left.
Then a few more dabs, and that was it.

Witness the many tiny white dots.
Raindrops couldn't help but
add their fingers to the painting.
Oil and water refuse to mix.
Christmas Celebration
Oil on canvas
16" x 20"
The "medium" for this one should actually read,
"Oil, raindrops, random bugs on canvas."
Look closely, you'll see them all.
Such are the joys of painting outdoors.
