Mannequins of New York


 
Mannequins New York From Seattle's University Way to Manhattan's Madison Avenue, mannequins have served me well as ready models for a fine painting experience.

Employing store-front mannequins as models began some years ago when I first discovered the colorfully dressed windows of The Red Light, a hip-funky-retro clothing store located on University Avenue in Seattle's University District. A continuously changing display has offered a fresh and continuous source of light, shadow, form and color. (To peruse some of The Red Light store-front inspirations, click here.)

Travels to New York have provided me yet another source of mannequin subject matter, as you'll see below. Wonderfully lit and elegantly dressed, New York mannequins beckon the shopper and artist alike. And as an artist and figurative painter, I'm a window shopper who just can't resist!
